Congratulations to CEB 5th year student Heather Skeen, on the recent publication of an article she co-authored, "Comparative Analyses of Vertebrate Gut Microbiomes Reveal Convergence between Birds and Bats," published in mBio, the journal of The American Society for Microbiology.

We extend congratulations to CEB 4th year student Jacob Cooper, on the recent publication of his article, "Stable Isotopic Evidence of Mixotrophy in Xylophagaids, Deep-Sea Wood-Boring Bivalves," in the journal Frontiers in Marine Science.
We are pleased to recognize Joe Thorton, who was one of the winners of the 2019 Friend of Darwin award, presented by the National Center for Science Education. Joe received this honor because of his important and influential research on the evolution of genes and the proteins they code for. Please congratulate Joe for this achievement, when you have a moment!
For 50 years, the Committee on Evolutionary Biology (CEB) has been a driving force behind impactful and integrative scientific inquiry at the University of Chicago. And to this day, its interdepartmental, interinstitutional graduate program remains unique.
